ON A GOOD LOOKING MONDAY,THE LAST DAY OF NOVEMBER 2009,
WE DROVE TOWARDS OUTER BANKS,N.C.,VIA NORFOLK AND CHESAPEAKE,VIRGINIA AND ITS EXPRESSWAY.
OUR FIRST IS CURRITUCK ,N.C. WITH ITS REDDISH LIGHTHOUSE OVERLOOKING THE SHORE OF CORROLA,AND WITH STACEY AT WELCOME CENTER WHO IS VERY WARM AND HELPFUL FOR OUR ORIENTATION AND PACKING OUR BAGS WITH A BUNDLE OF BOOKS AND BROCHURE..
LIFE IN CURRITUCK COUNTY IS PASSING LAZY BUT SUDDENLY THE ROAD EXPLODES
WHEN WE ENTER 8TH STREET AND MILE POST 1 OF OUTER BANKS AND LOOK FOR ALI IN A BIG TRAFFIC AND CROWD.
THE HOUSE WE LANDED IN KILL DEVIL HILL,NEXT TO WRIGHT BROTHERS AND THE MONUMENT,LOOKS LIKE VILLAS AT CASPIAN SEA WITH A MAN MADE WATERWAY
AND MARINA SITTING IN BACKYARD AND PRETTY PARTLY SUN OVERLOOKING THROUGH BUSHES AND TREES.AND NOW I TRYING TO MAKE MYSELF FAMAILIAR WITH AREA'S FLORA ANF FAUNA.

we woke up with sun whirling in the waterway and marina, and golden trsses on the banks.

OUTSIDE LOOKS LIKE A SALON OF ARTISTS.I AM GOING TO TAKE SOME MORE PIX OF THESE GOLDEN TRESSES AND DANCE WITH THEM. INSIDE IN THIS HIGH CEILING ROOM IN PROCESS OF GRADUAL REMODELING,THERE ARE BUCKETS OF PAINTS,AND A GLASS ENTRANCE DOOR ,LOOKING LIKE MANDRIAN WORKSHOP.OUTSIDE THERE IS A FINE MOVING WATER ,SO FAR ALIGATOR FREE.AFTER ALL THIS IS NOT FLORIDA .

WE DROVE 158 SOUTH AND PASSED WET VILLAGES.IN HATTERAS SUN WQAS PAINTING MOON WITH AMBER LIGHT TO LEAVE THE NIGHT LONELY WITH HER,AND NIGHT IN RODANTHE IS FULL OF LOVE.

IN THE MORNING WE WENT THROUGH BARRIER ISLANDS,PASSED BY BODIE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE.SOME THOUGHT IT IS A WATER TOWER WHILE IT WAS LIGHT TOWER,IF YOU WILL.

AT THE END OF HATTERAS ISLAND WE LEFT N.C.12 TO GET TO CAPE HATTERAS AND ITS REMAINIG LIGHTHOUSE,ACTUALLY THE THIRD,WITH A CLOSED MUSEUM,LAZY BOOKSTORE AND LAID BACK KEEPERS HOUSE ,WHO LOST THEIR JOB WHEN ELECTRICITY AND AUTOMATED LIGHTHOUSE KEEPERS CAME AROUND.THERE WERE ONLY TWO OTHER COUPLES,OUR AGE WHO WERE WANDERING AROUND,AND NIMA LOOKED BORED OF ALL THESE OUT OF SEASON PLACES,ALTHOUGH HE WAS TAKING PICTURES AND POSING IN FRONT OF CAMERA TOO.
THIS IS LOCATED IN BUXTON.LOCALS LIKE TO PRONOUNCE IT BOSTON,TO MAKE CONFUSED TRAVELLERS LOOK MORE SILLY.

AT THE END OF THE ROAD WE DISCOVERED HATTERAS VILLAGE .WE STOPPED BY NATIVE INDIAN MUSEUM,OPERATED BY A COUPLE.IT WAS A GOOD PLACE TO HAVE LUNCH ON THEIR PICNIC TABLES BY THE TRAIL,BUT NOBDY LIKED THE TRAIL AND ITS WILD ANIMAL SOUNDS,THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PRODUCED BY A SOUND MACHINE.

IN HATTERAS,NEAR HATTERAS INLET,WE TOOK A FREE FERRY FOR OCRACOKE LONG ISLAND, TO LOOK AROUND AND ADD OCRACOKE LIGHTHOUSE TO OUR COLLECTION FO FURTHER ENLIGHTMENT.WHEN WE GOT OFF THE HALF HOUR FERRY ,WE NOTICED WE ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ISOLATED ISLAND AND HAD TO DRIVE 13 MILESW TO GET TO VILLAGE AND ITS LIGHTHOUSE.WE WERE SHORT OF TIME,SO MADE A U TURN ON N.C.12,MILE POST 73 AND QUEUED TO TAKE OUR HATTERAS FREE

FERRY OF NORTH CAROLINA FERRY SYSTEM,TO TAKE US TO THE WINGS OF WAVE IN PAMLICO SOUND,BACK TO BARRIER ISLANDS AND OUR KILL DEVILLISH PLACE.,IN COLINGTON HARBOR,OVERLOOKING WRIGHTS KITTY HAWK.TO WAIT FOR ALI TO COME BACK FROMM WORK WITH HIS LOUD HAPPY LAUGHS AND LISTEN TO THE TRAVELLERS SAGA.WE THOUGHT NEW ORLEANS PLAYING NEW ENGLAND TONIGHT BUT THAT WAS NOT TRUE AND WE MISSED THE HAPPY FACE COACH.SORRY DUDE!

sand and sound ,sun and sea

sound of sound

we killed devil

in kill devil hill

and crowned

the silent sea shore

on a high gusty bridge.

we hugged the wind

and pea island

someone said: salvo

or chicacomico.

he didn't mean: welcome!

or something.

it was the name of this wild village

or that one ,may be.

*

WE SPENT WEDNSDAY IN NAGS HEAD AND SOUTH NAGS HEAD ,STARTING FROM ALI'S GORGEOUS SAGA.THEN WE WENT THROUGH HIS BUILT BUILDINGS AND THE ONES UNDERWAY,AND RENTALS TOO.SOME IN THE WOODS AND OR IN NEIGHBORHOOH AND SOME OCEAN FRONT OR OCEAN VIEW OR EVEN SEMI OCEAN FRONT AND QUAQRTER ONES,THESE LAST ONES ACROSS STREET FROM FRONT ROW.AND IF THEY HAD POOLS,WITH A SIGN BY A.D.A(=ANTI DIVING ASSOCIATION),SAYING:
DO NOT DIVE!
I LIKED THE SETTING OF BARS IN WATER WITH SITTING STOOLS.WE ENDED UP IN MULIGAN CAFE AFTER OUR PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION TOUR,WITH A BAR CALLED:
REDSKINS COUNTRY.
I AM GLAD this SIGN IS NOT REMOVED FAST,LIKE REDSKINS COACHES OR QUARTERBACKS,AND I FELT THAT FANS DIDN'T GO AWAY EITHER.
