REZA SEYED HOSSEINI HAD EYES ON POETRY

REZA SEYED HOSSEINI(b.Oct 14,1926/22 Mehr 1305,Ardebil,Azarbayejan,Iran - d.May 1,2009/11 Ordibehesht 1388,Tehran) was considered a prominent translator and journalist in Iran .His 2 volume book, MAKTAB HA YE ADABI or literary schools(1955), has been very popular before new generation of critics and intellectuals like Babak Ahmadi,Mohammad Mokhtari,Peyman Vahabzadeh,abdolali Dastgheib and others appear on the literary scenes of Iran and abroad.Seyed Hosseini who translated literature of the world into Persian, published 34 books,among them Limelight of Charlie Chaplin,Tempest of Albert Camus,Dream of Love of Maxim Gorky,L'Espoir or Man's Hope of Andre Malraux and his other work:anti-memoirs,On Defense of Intellectuals of Sartre,and others...
Reza Seyeh Hosseini had his eyes on poetry too. He translated Nazim Hekmat's selected poems from Turkish to Farsi.Also when Manuchehr Atashi,as a young poet from Bushehr moved to Tehran for continuing higher educations and decided to publish his poems as well,non of the publishers in Tehran wanted to risk his efforts and franchise for a new comer.At that point Reza Seyed Hosseini,a relatively young writer himself decided to take over and introduced the young poet by publishing his first book :AHANG E DIGAR,other song(1960).Again more than a decade later this was Seyed hosseini,the poetry lover who is to be instrumental in transferring Atashi from department of educaction to National Iranian Radio Television and its weekly journal, Tamasha.
Reza Seyed Hosseini who for years was editor-in-chief of Sokhan monthly ,a well known literary journal,died at age 83.
