THE GOOD THING IN SALINAS WAS EATING IN STEINBECK'S BIRTHPLACE AND CHILDHOOD HOUSE.THEY CALLED IT EATERY.WE CALLED IT STEINBECK KITCHEN OR BETTER: STENBECKITCHEN. WE COULDN'T FIND A BETTER PLACE TO CELEBRATE DR.SIAMAK MOGARI'S BIRTHDAY IN THERE.THIS WAS SEPTEMBER 4 AND THE DAY LOS ANGELES WAS BORN TOO.(see: la postcard from l.a.)I TELL YOU JOHN IS A GOOD COOK. FOODS WERE DELICIOUS AND HEALTHY WITH GOOD DESERT AND FRESH BREWED COFFEE. AND A PRETTY BEST CELLAR FOR GIFTS AND SOUVENIRS.

CORN SOUP OF SAUTE ONION,GARLIC,CREAMED CORN,CORN KERNELS AND CHICKEN.ALL STOCK IN BLENDER,AND THEN SIMMER IN A POT FOR 10 MINUTES.AS EASY OF THAT.UMMM...
THEN COMES CHUTNEY CHICKEN,WITH CHICKEN BREAST , SAUTE GARLIC AND ONION IN OLIVE OIL,AND SPINACH TO ADD.THEN YOU ROLL CHICKEN BREAST IN BREAD CRUMBS
AND ARRANGE THEM IN BAKING DISH.IN A PAN YOU PUT CHUTNEY,CORNSTARCH AND WATER AND COOK IT TO THICKEN IT,AND ADD SMALL AMOUNT OF IT TO CHICKEN.BAKE IT AT 325 DEGREES FOR 30 MINUTES,AND POUR THE REST OF SAUCE ON IT.VOILA...
O.K. SPIACH AND APPLE SALAD IS SPINACH AND APPLE SALAD,I GUESS!YOU CAN ADD BACON,ONION,ALMOND,CHEESE AND SPECALLY BLUE CHEESE OR FETA CHEESE CRUMBS TO MAKE IT TASTE BETTER OR TO RUIN IT.
UUUUUU... HERE COMES THE DESERT:
INDIVIDUAL MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKE WITH WARM PRALIN SAUCE.IT'S SO SEXY.SWEETY SEXY.BUT YOU CAN USE SEMISWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS WITH VANILLA,EGGS,FLOUR,SUGAR AND PEECANS.YOU MIX THEM ALL.I SUGGEST A FEW DROPS OF BRANDY TOO.AND THE REST IS AS USUAL.PREHEAT OVEN TO 400.GREASE AND FLOUR DISH.SOUFFLE DISHES.PLACE IN SHALLOW PAN,AND...

I like to add here the recipe of dolmeh,also called dulma ,like stuffed grape leaves,stuffed pepper,stuffed cabbage,stuffed tomato,stuffed eggplant etc... which fits steinbeckitchen and feels at home.it is like
variation of turkey stuuffing wrapped by grape leaves or other stuff we mentioned.
