Mendelssohnwas the first composer to bring the music of the past to present,with his five symphonies and overtures,especially William Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream,once performed by NSO ,and reissued with symphony no.4.
In D.C. his octet for string(1825) also plays as a hallmark.Between all these Mendelssohn's concerto for violin with Itzhak Perlman is one of a kind.And we like to mention that for Washingtonians,Piano Trio is very much heard on stages or in records.
