# 3500:F.SCOTT FITZGERALD,S GREAT GATSBY
F.Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby
Scribner,1925,2004
Then wear the gold hat,if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too
Till she cry "Lover,gold-hatted,high-bouncing lover,
I must have you!"
-Thomas Parke D'Invilliers
James Gatz turned Jay Gatsby or rather Great Gatsby to suit his fabulous charms and wealth , and fall in love with Daisy. Long Island lavish party in the backdrop, and sex and drink is in abundance. The rest is obvious as Gatsby once responded to a reporter's question:
"Anything to say about what?...Why any statement to give out ?"
Gatsby is deeply involved in a triangle love story , ending in an accident ,shot and killed innocently by victim's husband .F.S.Fitzgerald depicts not only his hedonistic and love life but the mentality of Jazz Age,a term he coined, in pre-depression culture. No matter if people come from west to take share in a party in New York and the east .Like Gatsby, with whatever privilege or advantage they had or they did not ,They come out of obscurity .Their background ,like Gatsby's resume of Oxford and his fortune ,is questionable, and then one night they disappear in darkness. One finds Fitzgerald narrative with a physical strength and precisely worded prose ,and written often in contemporary language,
Also Fitzgerald's characters are wounded and at times still bleeding.Money does not heal and will not relieve loneliness as the body of Great Gatsby remains on the floor and no soul shows up for his funeral.Tom and Daisy are wounded as well and they wonder if they ever lived together with love. That is why Daisy falls in love with Gatsby so fast and enlighten his life who has been waiting for her ,for five long years.Great Gatsby is mystery but not his love affair with Daisy whose husband ,Tom,has issue with that and this sets up a tree way arguement between them.
Francis Scott Fitzgerald,24 september 1896 -21 december 1940 , born in St.Paul Minnesotta ,is an expatriate American writer like Ernest Hemingway,John Dos Passos,Gertrude Stein,Henry miller, among others ,who also are called Lost Generation. With his third novel,Great Gatsby,Scott Fitzgerald provides one of the classics of twentieth century literature in U.S..
Great Gatsby like Fitzgerald other three novels as well as his own life is adapted into movies, the last version is produced 2013, with director Baz Luchman, starring Leonardo DiCaprio,Tobey Mcguire and carey Mulligan .
Great Gatsby is a "real party."

THE LIVES WE LIVE
J.D.SALINGER
Knew every single corner
Of solitude
Tha's how he enjoyed it
and never let it
get contaminated
With stinky strangers
Who knock on your door
To invade you in private
And intervene your precious moments
Of making love.
New Hampshire was his heaven
Hell
Well,was a haven
kept far
And away.
