A modern life must have a brave appearance and voice. It must be oriented in time and space and experience, even as insists upon being polyglottal. For ours is a polycultural world, which can not close its windows to an ever shifting landscape. It is a world in love with discovery and surprise, which loves to transgress walls and borders. The borders are always reminding us that they exist. They give modern life and our expression something to resist, and from such resistance poetry comes.
In 1921 , in Iran, the poet Nima ,born in 1897 published his Afsaneh, a long lyric poem which marked the beginning of Contemporary Persian Poetry and revealed Nima's non traditional use of form in his investigation of mankind and love...to establish thoughts and ideas not only in poetry and literature but in other forms of arts,as well as social sciences
O Afsaneh, Afsaneh, Afsaneh !
You whose arrow chose me as its target
You healer or hearts, remedy of afflictions
Companion of nocturnal tears
With me , afire with passion
What are you doing?
Who are you ? You, who hide from others!
You who lie in wait along the roads!
Young boys lamenting of your lips
Lamenting also for their fathers
Who are you? Your mother
Who is she - and who your father?
in arising from my cradle
My mother told me of your
intriguing adventure
Her tears caressed my face
with the brightness of yours
and my eyes closed, full of ecstasy
at your evocation.
I fainted,beyond myself,
with fascination to
You
