History repeats itself.In september 1968,The Poetry Nights of Khusheh , by Ahmad Shamlu is considered a great happening in history of contemporary Persian poetry, in which 110 poets appeared to read their poems,printed in The Most Beautiful new poetry,here taken as the book of poets of 1960's.
In october 1977,The Iranian Writers Association organized The Ten nights of Poets and Writers, by 60 poets and writers,published in TEN NIGHTS ,here as the book of 1970's with some other references.
With young audience , these nights of poetry was a cause of gathering and excitement during oppression during Shah.
A similar Poetry reading program in 1979, as poetry of revolution, has been aborted and cancellled .
Poetry as a gun is at the service of man,freedom and rights.It is popular and social,recited and repeated by people in the street for freedom.Ferdosi,in Book of Kings, put Fereidun and Zahak against each other as symbols of justice and opression,and then created Kaveh, as a freedom seeker leader.Saadi was real lover of man,and one of pioneers of humanism.Hafez took love as an institution of social thoughts. Rumi praised sublime position of human being,like Khayyam, Naser Khosro, among others to bring up their humanistic ideas.As it is said that:Naser Khosro's quotes , if said today , would not be allowed to be published in many countries.
In contemporary persian poetry too we are dealing with poets with social cause such as Khosro Golsorkhi,1943-1973Said Solatanpur,1940-1980 Mohamad Mokhtari ,1942-1998...Who lost their life for expressing their opinion but left their poems as their political manifesto and expression of their thoughts and ideas.On the other hand there were wave of pure poetry ,dealing more with the essence of poems in pure forms.And these two currents were always functioning together .

In Ten Nights ,before each group of poets recite their works,There were speakers to present their ideas and thoughts.
In first night Rahmatolah moghadam maraghehy presented the declaration of temporary members of Kanun,then simin Daneshvar explained her view on contemporary art.
In the 2nd night, Manuchehr hezarkhani discussed the necessity of freedom for pen  against opression and suppression
In the 3rd night Shams Al Ahmad presented the history of Iranian Writers Association and Censure,Then Bahram Beyzai discussed the position of theatre and cinema with censure and self censure.
Ten Nights has a more social value and voice, and from three currents of contemporary art and literature, has a better share of critical realism . A poetry to make the era more clear A high fist of poets and writers to incite people of our time.
Social poetry ,according to critic,Mostafa Rahimi(p 473) is penetrating in the depth of society through images,rhythms and dynamic movement of the words, at night. The poet brings allegory of society and arranging positions through a virtual language to inspire the reader to diagnose the social constructive and ruining elements .to reach a more sublime reality comparing tp poetry itself.
In 4th night gholamhosein saedi talks about quasi-artist who is cooperating with authority
In 5th night Bagher Momeni discusses censure and its complications.
Hans Baker is the speaker of the 6th night who discusses the manifesto of Kanun.
In 7th night Eslam Kazemieh talks about the history of Kanun again and its relationship with constutional law.Then Daryush Ashuri talks under the title of poetry is freedom
In 8th night Mostafa Rahimi speaks of culture and bureacracy,and discussions following poetry reading continues through 9th and 10th night.Although these researches are in process and at time incomplete but still can show the views of authors and what is current in the culture and society ,to be against the authority and censure.
The effects of these nights of social sphere of Iran on coming historical events accompanied with political , religious, socio-economic elements ending in Iranian revolution of 1979,reminding the positive pattern of literature engage , showing that :Poetry is not sitting in the corners of solitude,but coming to street to witness.
