EZRA POUND,THE MOST MODERN OF MODERNS-2

NOVEMBER 1,1972
EZRA POND PASSED OUR WORLD
HE ALWAYS HAS A BERTH IN OUR WORD
Any anthology of American poetry starts with Walt Withman's poems, who 20 years before birth of Robert Frost published his LEAVES OF GRASS,and remained as a symbol of innovation and freedom, with his influence on poets of Americas and Europe.Withman,in fact ,was Ezra Pound before Ezra Pound.
Ezra Pound too,as poet, translator, critic, editor, counselor, correspondent, manifesto writer, movement maker and "persona" has a perrennial presence in these anthology to leave his signature on anglo-american poetry and literature. He wrote:
THE AGE DEMANDED AN IMAGE
OF ITS ACCELERATED GRIMMAGE
SOMETHING FOR THE MODERN STAGE
NOT AT ANY RATE AN ATTIC GRACE/
zamaneh tasviri mi khast
az gham e modam
chizi baraye sahneh haye no
va nah penhanye posht e bam
(Ezra Pound poem tr.in farsi by:F.S.)
